VGW Announces Closure of LuckyLand Slots
Virtual Gaming Worlds (VGW) will permanently close LuckyLand Slots on September 14, 2026, ending the sweepstakes casino brand after eight years.
The company informed players by email that the shutdown will take place in three stages. Gold Coin purchases will end on August 3, 2026, gameplay will stop on August 24, 2026, and prize redemptions will close on September 14, 2026.
VGW confirmed that the decision will not affect Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Casino or Global Poker.
The closure follows the launch of LuckyLand Casino in late 2025, which expanded the brand beyond slot games by adding table games and live casino content. The move had already suggested that LuckyLand Slots could eventually be retired. The company wrote in its customer email:
This decision does not impact our other products, Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Casino and Global Poker.
The shutdown comes during a period of major changes for VGW. Earlier this month, founder Laurence Escalante stepped down as CEO and executive chairman after an extended leave, while the company began searching for a permanent chief executive.
VGW has also reduced its U.S. operations as more states increase scrutiny of sweepstakes casinos. During July, the company exited Indiana and Maine following new legislative restrictions. It now limits access to its sweepstakes platforms in 16 U.S. jurisdictions.
VGW has not linked the closure of LuckyLand Slots to these developments.
