Macau GGR Daily Rate Rises 12% From July

Macau casinos generated an estimated MOP 6.6 billion ($816 million) in gross gaming revenue during the first nine days of August, according to Citigroup.

The total represents an average daily rate of MOP 733 million. This was 12% higher than the daily rate recorded in July and 3% above the level seen in August 2025.

Citi analysts George Choi and Timothy Chau estimated that VIP betting volume increased by between 12% and 15%. The segment also recorded a higher-than-usual win rate for casinos.

Revenue from the mass market was estimated to have grown by between 10% and 12%. The analysts noted:

We are encouraged by the sequential GGR run-rate recovery, likely driven by pent-up demand and major concerts thus far this month.

Citi expects upcoming music and entertainment events to support further growth. Macau’s August calendar includes the Tencent Music Entertainment Awards and concerts by ITZY, Lay Zhang and i-dle.

The bank forecasts total Macau GGR of MOP 23.5 billion for August 2026. This would equal around $2.91 billion and represent a 6% increase from August 2025.
