Google Opens Authorized Buyers to More Gambling Ads

Google is expanding access to online gambling and social casino advertising through its Authorized Buyers platform in 37 additional countries.

The changes will take effect on August 10, 2026. Advertisers in the new markets will no longer need separate Google certification to run eligible gambling ads through Authorized Buyers, provided they follow local laws and regulations.

Authorized Buyers is Google’s platform that allows advertising platforms and agencies to buy ad space across websites and mobile apps through real-time auctions.

The update covers advertising for online casinos, betting platforms, slots, online lotteries and some games involving virtual currency with real-world value. The list of new markets includes the UK, Germany, France, Brazil, Japan, South Africa, Turkey and Russia.

However, the change does not apply to Google Ads. Operators using Google Ads will still need the required gambling certification and must follow Google’s existing country-specific rules. Google has also warned AdSense publishers that they could see more gambling advertising on their websites after the update.

Website and app owners will still be able to block or limit gambling-related ads through their AdSense settings. Advertising content must continue to follow local gambling laws and include responsible gambling information where required.
